How Do I Become a Naturalized US Citizen?
1. be eighteen years of age or older;
2. have been a permanent resident for at least five years (less in some circumstances);
3. be determined to be a person of good moral character;
4. be able to pass a test of knowledge of basic U.S. history and government;
5. have been continuously present in the United States for a particular amount of time; and
6. be able to read, write and speak basic English (with some exceptions).
To apply, individuals should fill out and file Form N-400. An attorney can provide individuals with guidance to determine whether or not they qualify to apply for naturalization and assist in the preparation and filing of the necessary forms.
